Dear Mamas-in-Waiting,
Our family loves to make our own tea blends from scratch. Here is a recipe that makes excellent use of the apples that we dried during apple season. Add additional apples and/or spices to your liking.

Ingredients
- 2 ¼ cups water
- 6 half-slices of dried apples
- 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon powder
- 2 cloves, whole
- 1 tea bag — The tea can be black or green, decaf or regular.
Yield: Makes enough for 2 servings.
Step 1
Turn stove burner to high.
Measure and pour water in a pan.
Add in apple slices.
Cover pan with a lid.
Step 2
Once water near a boil, immediately turn the heat down to low.
Simmer 20 minutes.
The hot water re-hydrates the apples and infuses their flavor into the water.
Step 3
The cloves can be added with the apples in Step 1. However, powdered cinnamon becomes stringy when boiled which is why I add it to this step. Also, the spices don’t overpower the tea when added during Step 3.
Remove pan from heat.
Add in 1 tea bag.
Place the lid back on the pan.
Let steep for 3 minutes.
Step 4
Remove apples and tea bag from the pan. Squeeze out any tea remaining in the apples.
Pour tea into cups, sweeten and serve.
Garnish as desired.
