If we do not take good care of ourselves, we will become exhausted and burned out. A mindful wife understands the physical limitations of life in this world. And she takes steps to remain vibrant and energetic.
Our Lord Allah Who ascended the ‘Arsh (Throne) above the seven heavens gave us Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as a guide and model to follow. For example, the Prophet used to race with his wife ‘Aisha. So engage in play with your husband and children.
You can also develop an exercise routine for yourself. You don’t have to do any fancy workouts or buy special equipment. And keep in mind that “Moderate physical activity is that which gives the cheeks color and nourishes the body; activities causing sweating is excessive” [Healing].
So when exercising, avoid the kind that makes you sweat. But you do want enough activity that gets your blood flowing.
Prayer is also exercise. As is standing in night prayer.
And remember that the heart needs exercise too. Not just the physical kind either. A type of sport for the heart includes “learning, behaving, feeling happiness, joy, patience, firmness, doing righteous deed, and so forth” [Healing].
As you see, there are many ways to increase our energy levels. We are advised to perform them little by little. That way, we can adjust to doing them and they will become a firmly established habit [Healing].
