Muslim women who take their religion seriously are keen on maintaining their appearance. We reserve our beauty for our husbands, not the rest of the world. Therefore, one of the best times to gussy up is shortly before your husband comes home from work.
Here is a face and body scrub recipe that I picked up from other women in the family. It is uses ingredients from the kitchen pantry. And it makes a great gift as well.
Equal parts salt and olive oil
Sugar can be used if you have any small cuts or scratches on your face
Brown sugar can be used if you have sensitive skin (Home Made Brown Sugar)
Coffee bean grinder (can use a blender)
Clean container with tight-fitting lid
Measure and pour the salt into a coffee bean grinder
Grind until the salt reaches a fine consistency, usually just a few seconds
Pour the salt into a container
Add in the oil
Stir to mix well
How to Use the Scrub
Wash your face in warm water and pat dry or apply hot wet towels to your face.
Then apply the salt scrub to the skin on your face and neck.
Gently massage scrub into skin for about 5 minutes using short upward strokes. Avoid the eye area.
Allow the mixture to sit on the skin for up to 10 minutes — I like to set a timer then lay down for a little snooze.
Now remove the scrub. My favorite way to remove the scrub is to gently wipe it off with a warm wet towel. The water will dissolve most of the salt. Or you can rinse the face in warm water.
Finish this treatment by applying either olive oil, or jojoba oil, or sweet almond oil, or your favorite moisturizer to your face and neck.
You should be left with radiant and super soft skin!
