Here is another non-chemical cleaner you can make yourself (recipe pdf).
This cleaner is for oily stains. Use it on rugs as well as fabrics. Be sure to do a small tester area first. When in doubt, it’s a good idea to research your fabric before putting alcohol on it.
Measure 4 parts alcohol to 1 part salt. For example, 4 teaspoons alcohol to 1 teaspoon salt.
Rub mixture hard over the grease stain. You will want to rub in the natural direction of the nap to avoid damaging it. The nap is the raised or fuzzy surface of rugs and fabrics.
