Dearest Daffodils,

The month of May makes it official that winter –our ever so cold little friend– is over . . . finished . . . done with! It’s warmer weather and blue skies ahead for all insha’Allah!

It also means that gardening activity picks up.

Some of the gardening chores for May are a continuation of those that were started in April:

managing garden pests, prepping soil, sing fertilizers (eg compost), and putting plants into the soil.

Aside from browsing through the notes you made in last year’s garden journal to know what to do this year, the Cooperative Extension office’s monthly gardening calendars is such a huge help.  Go to the Cooperative Extension interactive US map, click on your state then county, find (or search for) the “monthly garden calendar”.

Plant On, ~Mom~
