Dear Lovelies . . . There are many ways to happiness. Understanding the value of time and health is one of them. Your family expects you to take the lead in matters of joyfulness.
Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas:
The Prophet said, “There are two blessings which many people lose: (They are) Health and free time for doing good.” — Sahih Bukhari Vol 8, Book 76, No 421
Meaning,
Many days pass and the person is healthy and having free time. But he loses all of them.
A person does not utilize his time in that which is good.
One could be in a state of good health saying it will be some time before becoming old and won’t be able to do much.
Then suddenly the person is touched by a defect which prevents work. This is not truly recognized until the person falls ill and says, How come I didn’t do such and such in time of health; How did I loose these days? — Understand-Islam.net Al-Bukhaari – Book of Ar-Riqaaq, Softening of the Heart
When you get up this morning, take out a piece of paper or get your planner. Make a list of the things you want to do today. Include ways in which to offer words or acts of kindness to family members and dear friends, even strangers.
Next, prioritize your list. What things are important? What will you regret not doing or saying once the day is finished?
Plan at least one pleasant activity today for yourself too.
If you are short on ideas, how about an indoor winter picnic complete with hot chocolate? Or invite a family member or friend to work a jigsaw puzzle with you. Or try a game of musical chairs without the music. Use a relaxation cd, or beat an empty milk jug with a wooden spoon instead.
Once you have your list completed, act on it! “No one should feel secure towards the loss of health and ltime. And that is why the person should be firm.”
